Twisted Pair Cables

Twisted Pair Cables are the cable that are made of the copper. This type of cables are the pairs of the wires that are adjacent connected to each other. Basically Twisted Pair cable is the cable that is the combination of the conductor and insulator. These types of wires consist of the pairs and the specific pair consist of the two wires that are twisted to each other for the decreasing of the interference. There are huge numbers of twists on that kind of particular cable and that twists show the quality of the wire. So the main point is that which is very important if the twists are more that the means is that the quality of the signals better and effective

Following are the two types of the Twisted Pair Cables:

1)Unshielded Twisted Pair Cables:

Unshielded Twisted Pair Cable
Fig 2: Unshielded Twisted Pair Cable

Unshielded Twisted Pair Cables are the cables that are not shielded by the protection. These cables are the cables that are very easy to install. These cables are the cables that are very cheap as compared to the other wires. These types of cables only cover by the simple plastic not covered by the shield.

So these cables classify into the different categories that are the following:

Cat 1:

Category 1 of the unshielded twisted pair cable support the very low bandwidth and the transmission rate of that category of the unshielded twisted pair cable is 100 kbps. It is usually used in the connection of the telephone.

Cat 2:

Category 2 of the unshielded twisted pair cable support the very low bandwidth which is less than the 2 MHz that is greater than cat1 and the transmission rate of that category of the unshielded twisted pair cable is 2 Mbps. It is usually used in the Local Area Network.

Cat 3:

Category 3 of the unshielded twisted pair cable support the bandwidth which is in between 2 to 10 MHz that is greater than cat2 and the transmission rate of that category of the unshielded twisted pair cable is greater than cat2. It is also used in the Local Area Network.

Cat 4:

Category 4 of the unshielded twisted pair cable support the bandwidth which is in between 10 to 20 MHz that is greater than cat2 and the transmission rate of that category of the unshielded twisted pair cable is greater than cat3 which is 20 Mbps. It is also used in the Local Area Network.

Cat 5:

Category 5 of the unshielded twisted pair cable support bandwidth which is the 100 MHz that is greater than cat4 and the transmission rate of that category of the unshielded twisted pair cable is 100 Mbps. It is usually used in the Local Area Network for the carrying of digitals signal.

Cat 6:

Category 6 of the unshielded twisted pair cable support bandwidth which is the 200 MHz that is greater than cat5 and the transmission rate of that category of the unshielded twisted pair cable is 200 Mbps. It is usually used in the Local Area Network for the digital signal propagation.

Cat 7:

Category 7 of the unshielded twisted pair cable support bandwidth which is the 600 MHz that is greater than cat6 and the transmission rate of that category of the unshielded twisted pair cable is 600 Mbps.

2)Shielded Twisted Pair Cables:

Shielded Twisted Pair Cable
Fig 3: Shielded Twisted Pair Cable
Shielded Twisted Pair Cables are the cable that cover by the plastic and also it support the shield of the foil of the metal and that is also known as the metal shield. It is very beneficial for the decreasing of the interference by surrounding. These types of cables are also very easy to install. That shield make the wire expensive and effective. These cables are very easy to connect and also that are the very flexible cables. So the main point is that if any part of the cable damage than the network is not in danger to shutdown. These cables are the repairable cables but the disadvantage of that cable is bandwidth is low. There are very chances of problems and errors if the distance is greater than the 100 meters.
